San Quentin Beach

San Quentin Beach is a small community beach on San Francisco Bay serving San Quentin Village residents and visitors. Please help keep the beach clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

Beach Guidelines

  • No fires are allowed.
  • Please take out everything you bring in.
  • Garbage cans are available near the steps leading to the beach.
  • Dispose of dog waste bags in the cans at the entrance to the beach, not in neighbors’ garbage cans.
  • Keep dogs leashed while traveling to and from the beach.
  • Please prevent excessive barking.
  • Dogs may be off leash on the beach and in the Bay, provided they remain under their owner’s control.
  • Prevent unleashed dogs from harassing people or wildlife on the beach or in the Bay.

Parking

  • 1-hour parking on Main Street is monitored by the Sheriff and enforced.
  • No parking from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. without a Q Residential Parking Permit.
  • Please do not block or obstruct driveways.

Rules & Regulations

Marin County regulations include provisions concerning dogs in public areas and excessive animal noise.

  • Marin County Code § 8.04.175 — Leash Violation
    Requires dogs to be under the control of a responsible person.
  • Marin County Code § 8.04.176 — Leash Required in San Quentin Village
    Dogs must be restrained by a leash no longer than six feet in public areas and public rights-of-way within San Quentin Village.
  • Marin County Code § 8.04.179 — Habitual Animal Noise
    Prohibits habitual animal noise that unreasonably disturbs the peace of others.

Beach Access

San Quentin Beach is privately owned. Public access to the San Francisco Bay shoreline is provided through the beach. Please respect the beach, neighboring homes, and the surrounding community.
